I can't believe that nobody in Ranger Nation is talking about the head coach resigning. Is this a legit resignation?, or did he get forced out? Anybody have any answers? What is the temperature in Alva right now due to this big news?

I posted this on the national football talk page. Not much conversation there.

As it has been posted NWOSU is looking for a coach with D2 experience and they have told current staff that they would not be considered.

My question is this-- NWOSU just had a 3rd party evaluate ALL of their sports programs and have told them they do not have anyone on staff that would be considered a coach at D2 due to them teaching and being paid out of teaching funds.
NWOSU does not have the funds to go D2 at this time.
NWOSU does not have coaches in place to go D2 (pd. position coaches)
NWOSU wants to increase enrollement cost to offset some short fall, which in my opinion will hurt.
NWOSU has stated to football program that they need to increase recruitment without increasing scholarship totals.

So why do they want to go D2 with a program that doesn't have the staff, money or facilities to go D2?
Hate to say it but NWOSU would be better off staying NAIA.

I think the new facilities are D2 quality, I have been to much, much worse and also much better.

That said, I tend to agree with this statement. The reason for going to D2 was because the dissolution that will be happening in the SAC. I think that after originally being rejected, the powers that be need to meet again and decide if there is enough money to pursue the venture.

I agree with sideline we have no business going D2 it is going to hurt us but I don't think we will get excepted this summer anyway. I am from kansas so I think the facilitys are nice but not D2 nice. Everybody close to the program knew the HC was leaving when JR was done so no surprise there. I believe that the blam on the season falls on coaching staff it has went down hill fast this year

Can the Rangers stay in the NAIA, or is it too late and not an option now?

They are still in the NAIA. If they apply again in 2012, they will be post-season ineligible immediately regardless whether they are accepted by the NCAA because that will be two years in a row that they applied.

Does anyone know if that kills their membership in the NAIA too? I suspect not, but if they aren't eligible they may not keep their membership.

I heard someone at one of the games say that if we applied again and did not make it we would be kicked out of our league. We would have to go independent but with our schedule being all D2 and FCS we would never make the playoffs anyway. But I have no idea if that is true.

keep us posted on a short list or finalists if/when you can get the information.
Should be interesting to see who applies since this was a pretty prestigious job but a change in direction could make this a horrible job (the risk of struggling at the D2 level).

Just for everyone's information, NWOSU is applying for D2 again.

Yeah, I posted on football talk the news. Alan Hall will probably be named head coach. That said, there have already been players wondering or wanting to follow the coaches.
