Despite all the talk each year about how the way of determining the tournament teams is wrong and how the system of raters isn't the best way, we get this... 7 of the top 8 ranked teams remain! Looks like the system works! Apparently the raters do know who the top teams are! It's been a great tournament so far and I don't see that changing the rest of the way!
It's kinda sad, I came on here to read some banter about the tourney and there are only a couple of threads on here about the tourney at all. Back in 2007/2008 when I first signed up for the message board there was a new thread on almost every game! Where have all the DII posters gone? (Besides the HAAC people who went to DI, i guess they were pretty vocal bunch)

I haven't been following DII close enough since the HAAC moved to D1, so I don't know enough to make a prediction. It's pretty cool that a lot of the top seeds are left. Should be a very competitive final 4!

I would say Oregon Tech would be the favorite at this point. Hoping the Bulldogs can go all the way though. I think they can make it to the championship.
Heard rumors a couple players from OT are going D1 NCAA next year?? They seem to score a lot of points.

It also looks to me like the system is not broken. The national tournament played out very much like the raters voted. The championship pitted #1 vs #2. The semis had 1, 2, 3, and 5. The quarters included 7 of the top 8, with only number 7 knocked out. No team really showed they were deserving of a significantly higher ranking than what they were given. Of course, some teams like Midland did not have a chance to show what they can do. Maybe the most surprising thing was that the Mid-Central Conference did not prove to be the best conference this year. Indiana Wesleyan and Grace lost in the first round. Marion and St Francis advanced, but St Francis lost by 33 to Oregon Tech. The Cascade Conference appears to have had the best teams this year, with OIT winning it all, Northwest advancing to the final 8, Warner Pacific beating the league champs from the MCC and almpst beating the GPAC champs, and the 4th place team coming within a possession of beating the #6 seed in the first round. Overall, it seems the raters were on target.
I thought the Cascade Conf was the best. Those four teams are big, athletic, and skilled. I do think Dordt is the top team going into next year. They don't lose anyone!

Agree with everything you say here Victoreiu. Crazy thing about Dordt is they very likely will be the #1 team in the country but they may also have a more difficult time winning the GPAC next year as Northwestern gets back most of their players and also there are a couple teams that will be much better as well.
The way Oregon Tech rolled Northwood in the Championship game (and the field in the Tourny) and the fact they have the best Back Court in the country (Hunter, Clarke) coming back, they should be pre-season number 1 next year. Speaking of... How in the heck did David Clarke NOT make the All-Tourny Team??
