Are we ready to get this party started! Can anyone challenge the #1 ranked and defending champions the Notre Dame Falcon wrestling juggernaut? We will see in the next 10 matches.

So far #1 Notre Dame has cruised..
41 - 3 vs Waldorf
40 - 8 vs Cumberland
29 - 4 vs #5 Missouri Valley (who just won 3rd place)

The challenger #7 Lindenwood has taken a different path,
19 - 12 vs Jamestown
16 - 15 vs #2 McKendree
18 - 13 vs #6 Campbellsville

So here we go...
Notre Dame = ND
Lindenwood = L
for those who have taken too many shots to the head... :D

125
ND Brian Hauser FR 1 - 4 vs L Justin Forrest RSSO 10 - 3
Forrest starts fast with a take down and a near fall 3. He gets cautioned for who knows what and gets another NF2 to end the period. ND 0 - L 7.
Hauser goes neutral and gets a take down in the 2nd. Period ends ND 2 - L 7
3rd period Forrest goes neutral and it gets crazy wild.
Take down followed by a NF 2, let him out and another NF 2. Hauser gets a reversal only to be reversed back. Add up the penalty points and riding time and it's a major decision to start the match for Lindenwood 17 - 5.

Team ND 0 - L 4

133
ND Dante Rini FR 4 - 2 vs L Daniel Osmer JR 1 - 1
Rini comes out firing with a take down, escape, take down, escape. ND 4 - 2 after 1.
Osmer starts down and gets an escape only to be taken down to end the period. ND 6 - L 3.
Rini starts down and has points on his mind. Escape followed by a take down, escape, take down. That's enough for the major with the riding time.
ND 12 - L 4

Team ND 4 - L 4 after 2 of 10 matches.

ND Brett Freeman SO 4 - 2 vs L Jacob Janes FR 12 - 10

Team score is tied 4 - 4.

Freeman does the dance and gets a take down, escape, take down. 4 - 1 end of the 1st.
Janes goes neutral for a scoreless 2nd with no points.
Freeman is well rested and picks down to start the 3rd. Gets a reversal and sticks Janes at 5:22...

Team points
ND 10 - L 4

149
ND Ashtin Primus RSSO 5 - 3 vs L Daniel Breit FR 14 - 8

Primus not wanting to be outdone by his sparing partner comes out for a quick take down and sticks Breit only 34 seconds into the match. ouch...

Team
ND 16 - L 4

157
ND Thomas Straughn FR 6 - 2 vs L Vince Hannon JR 5 - 2
Typical dance for ND, take down, escape, take down, twist to the dance, NF3 then an escape. Period ends ND 7 - L 2.
Hannon starts down and gets an escape. end of 2 ND 7 -L 3.
Straugh goes neutral and guess what, take down, escape, followed by another take down. ND 11 - L 4

Team
ND 19 - L 4 at the midway point. I gotta go get some air.

ND Kevin Hardy RSFR 9 - 3 vs L Jake Johnson JR 4 - 5

Team is ND 19 - L 4

Don't know what happened here, can guess but Hardy was issued a penalty 15 seconds in and Johnson won be default. Generally that means the wrestler did something illegal and the other wrestler was not able to continue. Someone who saw it can give the details. Strange indeed.

Team
ND 19 - L 10

174
ND Cody Butzer RSSO 4 - 0 vs Chris "The take down monster" Chionuma FR 19 - 1

1st period is gentle after what ever happened in the previous match. 0 - 0
Butzer starts down in the 2nd and gets an escape, that's all for 2 periods. ND 1 - L 0
Chionuma starts down and gets an escape to tie it at 1 - 1. The take down artist does it again and gets a take down followed by an escape. He gets called for stalling but the match is over 3 - 2 Lindenwood.

Team
ND 19 - L 13

184
ND Alex Denman FR 9 - 2 vs L Dirk Hurrin JR 1 - 1
This is becoming a match!
Nada in the first period, just posturing by both wrestlers.
Denman takes down for the 2nd and gets an escape only to allow the take down to end the 2nd. ND 1 - L 2.
Hurrin starts down and gets away for a point. No points are scored the rest of the 3rd for a 3 - 1 win Lindenwood.

Team
ND 19 - L 16
2 matches to go!

Team is 19 - 16 Notre Dame at this point, excitement is in the air!

197
ND Derek Foore JR 8 - 0 vs L Ryan Rozell FR 2 - 5

Can the Freshman pull off the upset? Adrenalin has to be running high, a national championship is on the line!

The whistle blows, they meet in the middle, they move in a circle, Foore grabs a hold, slams Rozell and sticks him 57 seconds into the match. It's all over now. sorry for the underdog fans, the giant won again.

Team
ND 25 - L 16

285
ND Orlando Scales vs L nobody

Forfiet

Team Final
ND 31 - L 16

It was a good match and went down to the next to last battle.

Congratulations Notre Dame on the repeat title.

I had fun following this and thanks to anyone who read this far!
Can't wait for the individual tourney.

I'm happy to see that LU has gotten itself back with the cream of the crop in NAIA wrestling, exactly where it belongs!

Congrats to Chad Smith on the finish, I know he's not satisfied with 2nd place, but he has to like where the program is headed! On it's way to becoming the dominant program it once was!
