At best the COO will be a 500 team this year. They do not have the horses like they have had in the last 4 years through graduation and from other players leaving. They have a very young and inexperienced team and O line and D line are average at best. They will take their lumps this year but the program will be very competitive next year as they will return many players and recruiting will kick in high gear. Look for the Coo to compete for the conference in 2013 and be a 6-5 team in 2012.

Don"t get me wrong, USF has a great program that will carry over into top 10 caliber in D2. Its just going to take a couple of years to reload. They will get back to the top in D2 in a couple of years.

(I posted this last week)

....all said, this Coo squad is almost like a whole new team. So I wasn't crushed by the outcome. I posted the following on the D2 site..

http://www.argusleader.com/article/2...ll|text|Home|p

Pretty fair article on the game last night.

If you review my pregame thoughts on this game I figured USF would look very young in this game and they did. Having 13 new starters, along with a new soph QB who hasn't taken a snap, I had this game at 31-17 Bods before I walked into the stadium. The Washburn QB and OL/DL was the difference I saw in this game, more than anything else. USF is most challenged at those positions, while Washburn is very good at those spots..and USF was forced into the QB trying to pass (and scramble when nothing was open), as USF couldn't match up this year with the size and athleticism of Washburn. The Bods OL did a very good job of walling off USF upfront, and Dane picked USF apart early, with USF only showing real signs of heat in the 2nd half..and by that time it was certainly too late, damage was done.

As a USF fan I was pleased to see how they battled and showed heart, getting the game back to 27-14 in the 3rd..but the Bods are just a better football team and sit up a fantastic play action pass for a dagger-score.

USF will have to continue cutting it's teeth on this very difficult opening schedule next week at NWMSU, and I'm hoping to see the young guys continue to develop and get better. All said, USF brings back almost everyone for next year when they start up the NSIC schedule..and realistically if this team can gain a full year or experience they will be far better prepared come Sept 1 of 2012.

Congrats to Washburn on getting out of the gate like they were just continuing on from last season. The Bods looked ready and composed, and Dane is a great signal caller to have running your team. Good luck the rest of the way.

You have the wrong Idea here guy. Nobody's doing a dance. USF has a great program but a young team. They will be strong in D2 but not during transition. They are a young football team that has lost a great many players this past year. Witt's analysis is right on....

If you want to know anything about USF just go walk around campus. Go out to Bob Young Field, go to any Bar with a USF football shirt on. These guys have been treated with celebrity status over the years because they are winners and reflect a great deal of class to the city of Sioux Falls. If you walk around campus you just can smell football...its a football factory and has been in the NAIA since Bob Young took over. In D2 it will not be any different. Granted the competition is tough but USF will meet the challenge. One thing about Stugart is that this guy is an outstanding recruiter and has great connections on the west coast from his time at UNLV and in the east with his time at UNC.

Don't forget that a couple of years ago this program beat U North Dakota..and in convincing fashion, so they can compete at this level once they reload and get the horses. Its great they are playing the top tier programs out there now so that they can truly evaluate their players and situation. That is what this entire schedule is all about. So good things are in store for this program as they move forward but I think for this year a 6-4 or 5-5 record will be probable.

You tells us how they are a great team, BUT they are now young. Did they quit recruitin for a couple years, you don git young overnight. You tells us that Jed (I like that name) is a gud recruiteer, yet they is young, lost a lot last year. How long was Jed at UNLV, one year maybe?

They will be strong, but not now????? Bein a selebrity in Sioux Falls is akin to bein a selebrity in Lamoni, not a big deal. Nobodies a carin what they done a couple years ago, BFD. Sounds like you a tellin the board that they gonna be gud as soon as they gits some gud players, DUH? Whens the last time they saw a 5-5?

You doin a dance, you may call it sumthin else, but it looks and smells like a dance. Not a bad jobber either, man.

Well I guess all of your comments go with your profile picture and the use of your outstanding grasp of the English language: recruitin - gud recruiteer - Bein a selebrity - carin - tellin - sumthin - doin .

Congratulations. You have demonstrated that you might possibly be one of the stupidest people I have me here on this forum in the years I have been here.

Your comments also make no sense. Like: "You tells us how they are a great team, BUT they are now young." Which I never said. I said USF has a great program but a young team.

Here is another one of your brilliant comments: "Did they quit recruitin for a couple years, you don git young overnight." Its called graduation Moron...woops sorry you probably did not go to school so you probably do not understand that.

Another brilliant comment: S"ounds like you a tellin the board that they gonna be gud as soon as they gits some gud players, DUH? Whens the last time they saw a 5-5? - Jesus ! What they hell does that mean. I am not sure I can even attemp to understand what the hell you are talking about.

Do yourself and everyone a favor here. Go away, get an education, (maybe major in English) get a better profile picture and the next time you post something try posting something that makes sense or something that will contribute to a discussion.

Don't bother to cmment to this because I won't read it and I doubt that anyone else will either.
