I attended the first Lee game this paste Saturday. It was very unusual in that the first game was Homecoming and we played our rival Tennessee Temple. I was nervous about this game because Temple had recruited a bunch of NCAA I players that obviously had some issues. One guy was 7'1" and had "played" at Mississippi State. Another player came from Liberty. Anyway, sitting there during warmups realizing that we had almost a new team, I was worried about this game. If it were left up to me, this game would be an exhibition game because Temple can bring in whoever and you just never know. We have a few guys that we're waiting on the NAIA paperwork to come through and they were on the bench. More reason to be worried. The gym was packed because of Homecoming. Lee took a 7-0 lead. Temple came back to take a 5 point halftime lead, but I felt better even though we only shot 30% in the first half. We took the lead in the second half and never relinquished it. We won the game by 9, which was our biggest lead of the game. We didn't play that well but I saw some things that I liked and with the other guys, I like our chances this year.
Sorry about the long thread. I won't do this for every game but am excited about basketball being underway. Good luck to everybody!!

Hey, don't apologize, cogpk. I enjoyed reading about the game and I appreciate your enthusiasm. I'm looking forward to this season because I think Shorter's got a good team this year, but really hate the fact this is our last year in the SSAC. I'll be going up to Lee a week from Friday to watch Shorter and Lee take on Faulkner and AUM.

What happened at Southern Poly tonight? I was watching the scores and it showed SPSU up by 2 with no time left. I looked later and Southeastern defeated SPSU 88-85 in OT.

That is a good win. Freed is always good.
Lee played in a tournament at Newberry, SC in which we were the only NAIA school. The others were NCAA Division II. We declared them both exhibitions. Last night, Georgia College defeated Lee by 12, I believe. Tonight, Lee defeated Salem International 108-94. I think we're going to be pretty good.

Faulkner beat Carver Bible College tonight 101-78... normally that wouldn't be such a big deal, but CBC has already beaten #RV Emmanuel and #5 Martin Methodist this season, as well as taking Life to the buzzer

Carver reminds me of Temple. You just never know what they're going to bring. Sounds like a good win for Faulkner. I am hoping to make it to Cleveland to see Faulkner and AUM this weekend.

Wow! The home opener tonight should be interesting then. Usually, we run right through Carver Bible, but we shall see. We've got them twice on the schedule. hmmmm

As usual, I got confused. Shorter's Faulkner and AUM games are down here, tomorrow and Saturday. The Shorter girls played in a tournament at Lee last weekend.

Lee took care of AUM 61-49. I didn't make the trip up tonight but may go tomorrow to see Lee-Faulkner. It looks like Faulkner gave Shorter all they wanted tonight but fell short 64-58.

Basketball is hard to figure sometimes. We barely beat Bryan College at home tonight. We just didn't play well. At least we came away with the win. I think sometimes, you play to your competition and other times, you overlook them. I hate those games. Oh well....4-0.

Hornets get beat by Carver last night in OT 94-92. Wasn't at the game but sheesh, def looking like a down year for us. I know we're young but thats not the way you want to go into the Thanksgiving holiday. Both of our loses are BAD ones. Hopefully we can pick it up. All of our games in December are on the road, iincluding a tourney at Georgetown...
I must say I'm a bit shocked at Carver's success. I saw them play EC and was not the least bit impressed. They've played the EXACT same way for the past 4 years with similar players. They have a few guys that can put the ball in the basket making tough shots but I didn't see them beating teams like Martin Methodist or even Poly for that matter.. EC folded under the pressure and it didn't look like anybody wanted to take that last shot.. but i know Martin Methodist have a couple of go to guys that would step up in a close game.. guess that's the game of basketball..
