Just saw post that MNU will be scrimmaging Butler CC in August. That is awesome! Is it in Olathe or El Dorado? The two most successful teams of the 2000's in Kansas. Only wish is that they had met up last August. I can wear t-shirts and ball caps for both teams, depending on which one is winning.

It will be in El Dorado.

MNU will be traveling in 6 vans, 2 station wagons and a Dodge Dart that they borrowed from Shepard Bible College as part of the deal to get another home game for MNU. I'm just relaying information somebody told me, I think, unless I misunderstood, or misread it, something like that anyway.

That, Mr. Sodak is called a VSN message board FACT. PK deals in them all the time. His middle name is Credible, therefore his first name must be "Not".

MNU tried several teams (D1, D2...) and couldn't get a game. Having 5 home games on the schedule is more important than having 2 byes.

So MNU travels to El Dorado for the scrimmage next fall. MNU fans will find the playing site for Butler less inviting than the "fine complex in Olathe". If they play the scrimmage on the practice field like they did against Western Iowa in 2009, people will really be amazed at how one of the top Juco programs in the country practices between an oil refinery, a cow pasture, and an auto repair shop.

No restrooms/portapotties and players/fans at practice regulary use the tree line for a quick break. Prediction King would be at home. If the wind is blowing from the east there is always the lovely smell of crude oil. Did I mention the graveyard next to the oil refinery?

If nothing else Butler and MNU have proved that facilities do not make a program a winner.

Butler is set to open a brand new facility in time for this upcoming fall. It looks pretty nice from their website.

I saw the sketches of Butlers new facilities. Looks like they about 20 cell phone towers visible from any direction. MNU should feel at home there.

Butler's new facilities look great from the sketches. So if they can finally come up with new field etc., what is the chance MNU will upgrade soon? Any rich alums out there want to contribute?

If all the MNU alums and dopes who frequent this board all threw in $10, MNU could buy some very nice rakes to level out the divots in the field ;)

Their field is about the good thing about their football facility. Its actually one of the better natural grass fields you will find at this level.

That's why they are treading water...none of them have 10 bucks to give.

Is there a school out there within hundreds of miles that still has grass lol?

Well, there's one other. I guess it still counts to say mnu's is one of best then. I think St Mary might have grass. Then again, they also sit on the ground next to the field, where a stadium would normally be, so even mnu's rickety stadium has them beat. Haskell's stadium is a classic tho. Needs some work, but at least they have something to work with that isn't intended to be for a middle school.

So this is what it comes to. MNU's "facilities" vs Haskell.
Well played sir, well played.

Haskell Stadium is vastly superior to MNU and every other facility in the HAAC.

Some great history with Haskell going back to the Jim Thorp era. Then Lawrence HS used that field to win a lot of championships. A lot of big 6A high school games with great players from the old Sunflower League were full house crowds. It was exciting to play there, even if you got spanked by Lawrence.

In the 70's after KU went to an artificial field at Memorial Stadium, they would often go use Haskell Field to practice on the week before playing somewhere on the road that had grass fields.

Some great footbal played there in the past, so old school.

So true. Haskell is one of the few programs that is not currently FBS to have registered wins over every major football powerhouse from way back. LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Notre Dame and at least a dozen others. A lot of teams may have beaten their local state university team a time or two in their first few seasons of football, but no program has a history like Haskell. I just keep hoping for signs of them becoming a stronger program so they can draw the talent that is out there who would not consider Haskell today.

It's amazing how many people know Haskell Stadium from all the games they have hosted over the years. Not just from Lawrence, but from all the opposing teams, not to mention all the years of Haskell Juco football.

LU-B's facility currently being built will pretty much blow it away

CC still has natural grass, and will for the foreseable future now that Petrino was busted with a volleyball coed. I'm ok with that---natural grass in late fall is an advantage for us in the playoffs. Those were some expensive lap dances with a middle blocker.

They are actually going to build the complex with gold doubloons, bald eagle feathers, and polar bear bones... I am jealous of LU's financial backing.
