Is anyone going to join in this year or am I going to talk to myself again? Cal Maritime has jumped into the National Poll at #24. When was the last time, or has there been a time, a Cal Pac team was there?
Hey Bronto. On another thread someone mentioned maybe Dominican. I know they had some pretty good teams. Another possibilty is Holy Names, they owned the Cal Pac for a few years. Here are some photos I took of the keelhauler game against Linfield College: http://danharris.photoreflect.com/store ... ?e=8757417
Noticed your squad won two while ranked. How good is this year's team? I saw them against Dordt last year. Gave the Defenders a good battle but did not have enough in the end. How does this year's squad compare.
Hard for me to tell WinorGoHome. I have seen them just twice, an early season win against a so-so D-III school (Linfield) and then last night's OT loss to UC Merced. In those two games Maritime didn't look as polished, to me, as last year. I will say that this is the second straight year the Keelhaulers struggled in Merced, although last year CMA pulled out the win. Sykes is a good coach and seems to have Cal Maritime's number. We will see how they rebound from the loss. I will see them again next Saturday against Simpson.
A college basketball treat today. Pepperdine at St. Mary's at 3 pm and then zoom over to Cal Maritime for the Simpson at Cal Maritime men's - women's double header. Life is good.
The Cal Maritime - Simpson women's game was a game of runs. The Redhawks jumped out to a big lead only to see the Keelhaulers battle back and get close. Maritime could never quite get over the hump and Simpson had the final run and won 89 - 73. Game photos here: http://danharris.photoreflect.com/store ... 1T8Y003100
The men's game was a back and forth affair all evening with each team making short runs to steal the lead back and forth. With less than a minute to go Maritime grabbed the lead for good, sealing the deal when Simpson was forced to foul when Maritime held a 2 poont lead with less than a shot clock left and then the Redhawk coach was hit with a technical and Maritime hitting the free throws to win 72 -66. game photos here: http://danharris.photoreflect.com/store ... 1T8Y003101
Retrurn / revenge match between Cal Maritime and UC Merced tonight. Keelhaulers need to come out early and show that the game in Merced was a fluke. Get on 'em early and stay on the gas!
Menlo beat Cal Maritime 67 - 66. Maritime had as bad a shooting night as I've ever seen until late in the game when a barrage of treys got them back in it. Some bad ball handling didn't help.
Cal Maritime is headed to Branson for the second year in a row with an exciting 66 - 63 victory over the Menlo Oaks in the Cal Pac tournament championship game. Maritime lost the regular season championship to William Jessup Univesity but the Warriors were beaten by the Oaks in the semifinal of the leagure tourney.
I know the question was directed to Keema but I thought I would take a bite. I had a chance to check out every conference championship game, including this one, throughout the last week. You are right, I have no life!
Cal Maretime looked decent. They did not shoot the ball well and looking at their stats some of their leading scorers did not have good nights. They seem to be solid defensively. Menlo went crazy with threes in the last 90 seconds and hit a three at the buzzer to Interesting to see where they fit when brackets are released.
Amish, what conference do you follow? Any favorites for making some noise in Branson?
