NAIA football is like the stock market and depending on how volatile the climate is you might find yourself out in the cold wondering how you lost your house if you put too much stock into the wrong program.

I'll add Robert Morris (IL) to the mix of up and coming teams. I realize they played mostly cans this year (and won most of their games as a new program), but also competed against SXU..which could mean a sign of good things to come for a program that will be returning the brunt of their squad.

I'm also interested in RMU. This will be the first time they actually play a schedule with top caliber NAIA teams and in the MSFA. Loaded with talent from the looks of some games, but we will see.

Robert Morris has the best running back in the NAIA coming back for 2013.

I agree.

Not to mention in the same area, filled with good talent in the surrounding Chicago area.
RMU could put a dent into SXU and D-3 powerhouse North Cental College recruiting.

I understand you can't be on the rise until you kick-off at least once, but I'm thoroughly impressed by the developments at Oklahoma Baptist so far. their staff seems solid (some college experience) and their recruits have size and some transfers (at QB he's a big guy at 6-4 220). Can they step right into the mix for an independent or CSFL bid?

To answer your question..... probably not.

But, Oklahoma Baptist is a first class institution. There is no doubt in my mind that they will be competive sooner rather than later.

Its happened before.

With the right coach and more importantly adminstrative support Evangel has a rich area to recruit although from what I've seen of Valley's 2013 signees EU has missed out on at least a couple of good looking players from that area.

For a good part of the 90's very seldom could any team in the HAAC match Evangel's athleticism and skill players not to mention physicality.

I don't know if Illum's the guy but at lesat last year was a step in the right direction.

He was being sarcastic. I'm pretty sure everyone is aware that Evangel will be pretty special going forward.

No...I was being honest.

Their scheme sucks. That 3-3-5 does not work in this conference, and they're going to have to beat Valley and MNU in recruiting and I don't think they can do it. In terms of top-tier talent guys, they will get 2-3 guys, but they can't compete with the depth of talent that the top teams get.

7-4 is great, but I think that's their ceiling. I may be ignorant to conference history, but I see that trend for EU.

Recruiting relationships take time..

Illum has had really only one recruiting class to this point..plus the program had been in limbo for a good part of a decade so frankly even kids from SWMO have pretty much forgotten about it.

I'd be surprised that they miss out on kids in a few years like they're missing now from their base recruiting area.
